CWRA Planning Update – 3rd August 2021
- The Towers Planning application for two new towers at the Britannia Point site.
- We understand there are over 250 objections from local residents to the towers that have been submitted against the planning application.
- All local councillors and the local MP have come out in objection, along with local Green Party and Conservative party.
- A petition has been setup with over 500 signatures.
- The local plan proposal has now been changed back to state that the existing tower should be the pinnacle of any development.
- We were expecting the submitted planning to come to merton planning committee during the last couple of months, but it has not. We have requested more details from the council on the 15th July. So far there is no response.
- We continue to monitor upcoming meeting agendas to see if it is going to be put forward to Merton Council planning committee for approval/rejection.
- Merton Vision Site – 67 Clarendon Road
- This planning application was approved by the Merton Council Planning Committee on July 15th. You can view the video of this here – around 2 hours and 45minutes in.
- This is despite the objections of local residents in the immediate roads.
- It is understood work will start in 2021. More details are available in the planning statement
